Purchasing project for a national care provider
Commissioned by the MD, we undertook a deep-dive of procurement practices and established that, because of the pressures of running the business on a day-to-day basis, poor procurement hygiene had crept in.
The outcome was that the organisation didn't really know how it was spending its money and was not making the most of it's procurement power, leading to spiralling costs.
Working with the team to understand their needs we:
- categorised their expenditure
- negotiated new contracts on their behalf
- reduced the supplier base from over 120 to just 32
- achieved visible savings of £400k annually in food costs and £100k annually in medical and janitorial supplies
- achieved hidden savings by reducing incoming invoices by over 80%

Hard FM review for a charity
Our client, a large provider of Alms House accommodation and care-services asked us to assess their Hard FM provision as part of an overall project to modernise and drive efficiency.
Having established that there was a real opportunity for them to improve compliance and to make substantial cost savings we were further commissioned to help them design and implement a new staffing structure and to support them through an out-sourcing project. We were also instructed to work with their housing and care teams and other consultants to bring improvements, and to work with regulators on behalf of the charity to improve compliance and restore relationships.
The project ran for over 24 months and:
- saw the organisation achieve full compliance with H&S, fire-safety and food-safety requirements
- achieved overall savings in property related costs in excess of £180k annually
- reduced faults and breakdowns through improved testing and inspection regimes
- dramatically improved beneficiary satisfaction ratings through improved rectification processes and incraesed 'first-time fixes'.
